10 Amazing Restaurants on the South Shore of Long Island NY, USA

New York's South Shore is full of amazing restaurants, from the casual to the upscale and everything in between. Whether you're looking for a lunch spot near work or a romantic dinner destination with that special someone, you'll find something along Long Island's waterfront that fits your needs.

These are 10 of the best waterfront restaurants on the South Shore of Long Island (NY).

1) The first restaurant: Montauk Yacht Club

Located in Montauk, NY, and sitting on a pier that juts out into Montauk Harbor, The Montauk Yacht Club offers great food and amazing views.
On their menu are seafood selections like oysters Rockefeller, fish tacos and seared tuna as well as meat dishes like filet mignon burgers and pork chops. Some highlights from their drink menu include a Blue Martini featuring Bacardi Limon rum and house blue curacao; a Moscow Mule made with Vodka Korbel; or if you're just looking for an afternoon pick-me-up they have fresh limeade garnished with fresh mint.

And when it comes to desserts do not miss out on either black cherry cheesecake or key lime pie.

2) Second restaurant: La Playa Grill

You can't get much more waterfront than La Playa Grill. It has a great deck overlooking Patchogue Bay, and is a cozy, fun place to hang out.
Plus they have some wonderful tacos! Even if you're not hungry, it's worth stopping by for a drink with friends. Sammy D's Waterfront: Sammy D's might not look like much from outside, but don't be fooled! The fried clams are perfect here – I'd choose them over any fancy-schmancy dish at other restaurants on the shore.

For dinner there aren't many other places that make a better mac n' cheese either! Once summer comes around again I plan to come back as often as possible to eat outside – Sammy D's has picnic tables and an umbrella which would make for a lovely meal overlooking Blue Point Beach (the beach goes all along Main Street in Blue Point!).

3) Third restaurant: Swallow East

This waterfront restaurant in Port Jefferson will satisfy even your biggest seafood cravings. Enjoy brunch, lunch, dinner and a variety of yummy treats at Swallow East. Try one of their many, fresh seafood entrees or choose from one of their mouth-watering sandwiches or burgers.

For an appetizer treat yourself to some fried calamari tossed in a house made spicy marinara sauce or enjoy some panko crusted scallops served with orange zest beurre blanc and orange segments. Yum! With its views of beautiful Gardiners Bay and dancing waters there's no better place to eat a scrumptious meal while you watch the boat traffic coming and going through Port Jefferson harbor.

4) Fourth restaurant: Nobu at Fairmont Southampton

The Nobu chain is fairly new to Southampton, but that didn't stop it from being named one of the best 10 restaurants on the south shore. This Japanese steakhouse uses fresh ingredients to make a variety of meals including sushi, chicken and pork.
The atmosphere inside is upscale with simple wooden tables and chairs and creative lighting for a romantic feel. Overlooking Shinnecock Bay, you can watch patrons sail boats or fish from their seat at Nobu in Fairmont Southampton.

5) Fifth restaurant: John Dory Oyster Bar

The fifth spot on our list of waterfront restaurants comes from East Hampton, where locals and tourists alike come to enjoy seafood at John Dory Oyster Bar.

The restaurant can be found within a stone's throw from Gardiner's Bay, making it one of our best waterfront restaurants for getting fresh seafood delivered straight to your table. It offers indoor and outdoor seating, so everyone will have a great time no matter what time of year you visit.

Enjoy both traditional fish dishes as well as creative preparations like tuna tartare and oysters Rockefeller alongside some expertly-crafted cocktails. No matter what your preferences are, there's something here for every palate!

6) Sixth restaurant: La Fondita Baja Mexicana Restaurant & Lounge

Hidden down a dusty dirt road about 30 minutes west of Riverhead lies La Fondita Baja Mexicana Restaurant & Lounge.

Perched on a cliff overlooking Long Island Sound, you can take in a stunning view while enjoying flavorful Mexican cuisine and margaritas by day, and warm fireplaces and beautiful sunsets by night. While their menu boasts classic dishes like tacos, fajitas, burritos, enchiladas, empanadas and flautas along with more complex offerings such as shrimp ceviche tostadas and duck mole enchiladas; they also offer gluten-free options for diners who want to enjoy authentic Mexican flavors without any compromise.

7) Seventh restaurant: The Pearl East

Located in Quogue, The Pearl East is a seafood restaurant that specializes in grilled meats and seafood. Menu items include grilled swordfish, char-grilled salmon, shrimp scampi and more.

Also on their menu are homemade crab cakes and fried calamari. They also serve specialty drinks like their popular Mojito Bliss made with Bacardi light rum, simple syrup, fresh mint leaves and lime juice or their Sangria Blanc which is mixed with Cointreau peach liquor.

The restaurant was opened to rave reviews from locals who love its beautiful waterfront views as well as its delicious food offerings. If you want to sample some of The Pearl East's tasty fare head over to 658 Main Street in Quogue. You won't be disappointed!

8) Eighth restaurant: Tango Sur Restaurant & Bar

Tango Sur Restaurant & Bar serves Latin cuisine in a casual atmosphere. The restaurant is furnished with colorful, tile-topped tables and sleek wooden chairs that add to its unique appeal.

Diners can dine in or take their meals to go. In addition to daily specials, most menu items are available for carryout. The restaurant also offers catering services for special events, like business lunches and family gatherings.

9) Ninth restaurant: Baia Restaurant, Oyster Bar & Market Place

Baia is an elegant oyster bar and market, located on North Country Road in Huntington. The seafood served here is some of finest you'll find anywhere in New York state.

Ahi tuna crudo, Maine shrimp, scallops from Maine and Connecticut-you can also purchase fresh seafood here to take home. Enjoy them at home in your Baia-prepared recipes or place an order for catered events and special occasions. Either way, you're sure to have a great time at Baia Restaurant!
In addition to seafood, Baia serves up other traditional Italian dishes such as steak parmesan and pasta puttanesca with olives and capers.

10) Tenth restaurant: Orient Point Light Station

The waterfront restaurant at Orient Point Light Station in East Marion is, without a doubt, one of my favorite restaurants in all of New York.

Their selection is ever-changing, but their crab cakes never disappoint; plus their bar has a top-notch selection of local craft beers that you can't find anywhere else on Long Island. This is a family-owned restaurant with an experienced chef who knows how to deliver a quality product, so I'd encourage you to make sure to stop by if you're looking for somewhere with great food and spectacular views.
