Believe it or not– there are still some people who have not given up on their 3G phones. Despite the network shutdowns, some are still hesitant to upgrade their phones to 4G LTE or 5G. And it looks like Verizon has a new promotion to help these customers.
With its scheduled 3G CDMA network shutdown poised to happen at the end of the year, Big Red is now looking for a way to bring over customers who’ll be affected by it. One way that Verizon hopes to address this is by giving out a free 4G flip phone to wireless customers. This way, they won’t lose connection once the 3G network is switched off.
In its announcement, Verizon revealed that it will be giving customers a choice of three basic flip phones: the Nokia 2720 V Flip, Orbic Journey V, or TCL Flip Pro. Each device costs under $100 but will be free for affected customers. Again, these are very basic phones so there’s not much to expect from them.
Still, for customers who don’t want to get the free offer, Verizon advises them to call customer service to decline the free device for CDMA sunset.
Will you accept this offer from Verizon?
