It’s the end of the line for Sprint. The scheduled LTE shutdown is here and T-Mobile is sticking to it.
The Un-carrier has retired Sprint’s LTE network along with its own 3G network. And with the previous Sprint 3G CDMA network shutdown that took place earlier in the year, this means that Sprint no longer has any operational networks.
Originally, T-Mobile planned to shut down the networks by the end of 2021. But after a very public debacle with Dish Network, where it called the Un-carrier as ‘anti-competitive,’ T-Mo decided to push the shutdown to a later date. And now, that date is here.
If you are a Sprint LTE or T-Mobile 3G device user, you may have been experiencing difficulty connecting to your network. Most importantly, you won’t be able to make voice or emergency calls using your smartphone. You can still use it when you connect to Wi-Fi but other than that, your device won’t be usable.
One option you have right now is to take up on T-Mo’s free 5G phone offer. The Un-carrier has been giving away a free replacement 5G phone to users who will be affected by the shut down. You can give T-Mo a call and ask about your options.
