On the eve of Sony's scheduled press conference event in the 2014 Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) trade show in Berlin, it appears that things are getting a bit clearer, in terms of which gadgets are to be officially introduced by the Japan-based company.
According to Ausdroid, Sony's Xperia Z3 Compact will definitely be one those. Ausdroid should know -- it has after all obtained images of the Xperia Z3 device.
Naturally, because the leaks are in the form of photographs only, there is no way of knowing for sure what the specs are for the new Xperia Z3 phone. However, earlier rumors do suggest that this soon-to-be-unveiled device will be featuring a 4.6-inch display screen (720p resolution).
As for its hardware, the device is rumored to sport a 2.5 GigaHertz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and 2 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM). Sources also say that this new Sony product will be using a Nano SIM (the original version used a Micro SIM). The phone will also purportedly feature a 2600 mAh battery.
Details about the phone's camera are unconfirmed at this point, but some sources have come forward claiming that the device will have a 20.7-megapixel camera.
As seen in the leaked images of the phone, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact will come in mint, black, orange, and white, at least upon initial release. Ausdroid's sources have further claimed that green colors may be available, but the availability might vary by region.
The good news ultimately is that fans of the new Sony Xperia Z3 Compact will not have long to wait. After Sony's press event at the IFA Berlin, Xperia enthusiasts should have more information about the phone's specifications, features, and capabilities.
More importantly, future buyers should have an idea where and when they can get hold of their own Sony Xperia Z3 Compacts. Based on earlier reports, the phone is expected to be carried by carriers Sprint and SoftBank. If those reports hold true, American users should be able to purchase the new smartphone through Sprint. It should be noted that in the last few years, Sony was only able to attract T-Mobile in pushing its products to American markets.
As for other carriers -- the question now is whether they will be offering the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact smartphone as well? That remains to be seen for now, although it is possible that the press event may shed light on these matters.
