Just a month after it came out, some Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 users are experiencing a problem with their device: chipping paint on some devices. Considering the phone cost $1,900 to purchase, this is extremely frustrating for its owners.
Users shared their concerns on Reddit by sharing photos of their devices with paint chips. PhoneArena reported that Samsung has responded to this concern with an unfortunate statement.
Instead of acknowledging what could be a manufacturing defect, Samsung issued a statement that an improperly grounded high-speed third-party charger could be causing this paint to peel. Samsung shares this is an issue called “leakage current,” which happens when a device is being charged and held at the same time.
Unfortunately, some users were disappointed with the response that Samsung gave, especially since it appeared that they were shifting the blame away from them. If you are using one of these devices, it’s best to stick with official Samsung chargers (costs extra) or at least use one that the manufacturer has certified to have met the required safety standards.
