It looks like Honor could be facing possible problems in the US soon.
Right now, a number of Senators are calling for President Joe Biden to extend Huawei’s blacklist to Honor. Apparently, they believe that Huawei’s sale of Honor was a gimmick instead of a legitimate move. Because of this, the politicians are doubting the sale and believe that Honor is still part of Huawei. And because of this, it continues to leak data to the Chinese military.
The politicians have teamed up to encourage the President to add Honor to the blacklist, especially since the smartphone manufacturer has access to US components and technologies now.
Believing that the Honor sale was a stunt, these senators share that Beijing “effectively evaded critical export controls. The company continues to pose a threat to US national security and by inaction the Commerce Department could create a precedent for getting away with it, signaling opponents that the US has exhausted its capabilities or willpower.”
Right now, both the President and the US Department of Commerce have not yet responded to the request. But with the Honor 50 series expected to launch globally soon, this new development could affect the smartphone manufacturer’s progress once again.
