Earlier this month, Samsung unveiled its latest devices: the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6. While it’s now available in the US, there’s a bit of bad news.
As reported by 9to5Google, the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 devices heading to the US will not have Samsung’s native Messages app. If this is a messaging tool that you use, you will have to manually download the app from the Galaxy Store.
Credible Android leaker, (and consumer tech analyst) Max Weinbach, shared a message from Samsung on X:
“Starting with the Flip6, Fold6 and newer models, the Samsung Messages app will no longer be preloaded. Instead, Google Messages will provide a new and enhanced experience to express your emotions, making communication safe and fun.”
It’s unclear why this change is only applicable to Samsung devices sold in the US. Outside of the US’ shores, these devices will still have pre-installed versions of the messaging app. But again, it really isn’t that much of a deal-breaker, especially since many have been using Google Messages. If you’re still using Samsung’s native messaging app, you can download it from the Galaxy Store.
