Is Dish getting ready to sell Boost Mobile? Apparently, Boost Mobile’s logo no longer bears Dish’s logo. This could indicate that the brand could be changed soon.
BestMVNO noticed that Boost Mobile’s logo no longer contains Dish’s symbol in it. They first noticed it in Boost Mobile’s recently released “The Bear Champ” TV ad. The brand’s logo appears like street art. After looking closely, you’ll realize that Dish’s symbol is no longer anywhere near it. This is also the case with Boost Mobile’s X account and website.
It seems odd that this symbol is no longer on Boost Mobile’s logo. But as the publication points out, Dish could be preparing to sell the brand to a Special Purpose Acquisition Corp (SPAC).
This is interesting because Dish filed an extension request to the US District Court for the District of Columbia to get financing to purchase T-Mobile’s 800MHz spectrum. The company asked for a 10-month extension, something that T-Mobile countered. In its argument, T-Mobile says that there is no commitment from Dish to acquire the spectrum in that timeframe. In order to maintain the licenses, T-Mobile will need to spend another $215.7 million.
If Dish is able to sell off Boost Mobile, it will be able to get the financing it needs to purchase T-Mobile’s 800MHz spectrum. Of course, this includes the Dish/EchoStar merger expected to close before the year ends.
