Samsung users, here’s some bad news for you: you won’t be able to get your device fixed at Best Buy.
According to reports, Best Buy is no longer be Samsung’s authorized service provider (ASP). This means they are no longer allowed to use genuine parts and tools from Samsung. It also means they can’t get training from Samsung anymore.
The report about the program discontinuation initially came from Reddit. After that, The Verge was able to confirm this with an insider from Best Buy, who shared an internal memo that announced the discontinuation of Samsung’s ASP program.
Despite the insider confirmation, Samsung and Best Buy have not yet released an official statement regarding the matter so it’s best to take this with a grain of salt. A representative for Samsung, Mario Renato de Castro, shared that the company is “in discussions with Best Buy to determine how Samsung can best support our customers moving forward.”
We’ll have to wait until an official announcement is made.
