When LG revealed that it would be shutting down the smartphone manufacturing arm of its business, some users got worried about their device no longer receiving an update. But fortunately, the company promised that it will continue to update some of its devices for a few more years.
And now, we’re getting word that LG is proving true on that promise. As announced by XDA Developers, LG is releasing the Android 12 upgrade for the US carrier version of the LG Velvet.
To be more specific, Verizon customers will be receiving the Android 12 upgrade for the LG Velvet 5G UW. This update comes as the G900VM30a software version with the February 2022 security patch.
This is the first time LG customers in the US are receiving the upgrade, since LG started rolling out the upgrade in South Korea in March. As of this writing, LG Velvet devices on T-Mobile and AT&T still run on Android 11 with the December 2021 and July 2021 security patch, respectively.
If you are a LG Velvet user on Verizon, you can check to see if the update is already available on your device. You can do this by opening your Settings app > About Phone > Software updates.
