Just recently, AT&T added a new rugged Kyocera device to its lineup of devices.
The Kyocera DuraXE Epic comes as a successor to the DuraXE flip phone that the manufacturer first introduced in 2016. But what makes the DuraXE Epic stand out from its older brother is that it comes with support for LTE band 14 and FirstNet, AT&T’s LTE network specially for first responders.
Kyocera has built the DuraXE Epic with this specific market in mind. Some of the features that can be found in this device include a headset jack with cam-lock and PTT control support and it also supports AT&T’s Enhanced PTT with LMR network integration. It also comes with enterprise Device control and charging contacts that can be used with a charging dock or car kit.
The newer model also has a larger 1,770mAh removable battery than its predecessor. Kyocera has also doubled the memory and storage of the device and slightly improved the processor. It also features a USB-C connector. The device also has a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera with HD video recording. There is also a model available without a camera for sensitive workplaces.
The other features that you can find similar to the original model include a rugged and waterproof design that has passed military ratings for temperature extremes, low pressure, salt fog, solar radiation, vibration, shock, dust, humidity, icing/freezing rain, and freeze-thaw. The phone also offers dual front-facing speakers, programmable shortcut buttons, and a small external display.
