Earlier today, Huawei held an event where it took off the wraps of its Harmony OS 2.0. In the event, Huawei also took the time to show off a few new devices they are coming up with. One of those devices, the Huawei P50 series, is seen in a 45-second promo.
During the event, Huawei revealed that its second major HarmonyOS version will be available pre-installed in several new devices. This is also a big event for Huawei as it intends to switch almost 100 devices over to its HarmonyOS 2.0 platform. To start with, the migration will take place in Huawei devices based in China. There is no mention yet on when it will migrate US-based devices to the new OS.
There will be two batches of updates to devices. The first batch will start migrating today while the second will be invited in the third quarter of the year, between July and September. The first devices to get migrated are flagship models. Users of such devices can sign up to receive HarmonyOS 2.0 via the My Huawei and Huawei Club apps.
In Q3, older Huawei models will be invited to migrate to HarmonyOS. The full schedule of migration can be found here.
As mentioned, Huawei also teased the P50 in a 45-second promo. Right now, all we know about the device can be seen in that ad. It showcases a quad-camera system with a 1-inch camera Sony IMX800 sensor. It also highlights the 5x periscope zoom included in the device that allows it to go from 18mm to 125mm.
