HTC recently announced the Desire 820, the followup to the HTC Desire 816. The HTC Desire 820 boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor as well as integrated 4G LTE Cat 4 connectivity and 64-bit multi-core central processing unit. With these hardware specifications, the device is targeted to users who want to view content at optimum display clarity and speed. The HTC Desire 820 also features a 5.5-inch HD display screen and HTC BoomSound speakers.
In terms of capturing images, the HTC Desire 820 features an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Users may also find its Live Makeup a handy feature to use. It allows people to preview pictures and set skin smoothing levels even before the image is taken. Another feature, Photo Booth, allows users to capture multiple moments in one single picture. The smartphone even has software that lets people merge their likenesses with friends or even celebrities.
As for its rear camera, the HTC Desire 820 offers one with f/2.2 aperture and a 13-megapixel BSI sensor, which can facilitate better shooting even in low-light conditions. Those who can do without the technical stuff can just hold the phone's shutter in order to capture multiple, rapid-fire images -- which is ideal when capturing subjects on the move.
Aside from the LTE and HSPA+ support, other features of the HTC Desire 820 include GPS/GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX, WiFi a/b/g/n (2.4/5 GigaHertz), and a microUSB 2.0 port. The phone also has an accelerometer as well as a digital compass. It packs a 2600 mAh battery which should be good for more than 22 hours of 3G talk time (or more than 400 hours of 3G standby).
The Desire 820 will be running on Android 4.4 KitKat. However, HTC was quick to note that the phone's operating system will be upgraded to Android L, that is as soon as Google releases the highly-anticipated Android version. Given the Desire 820's processor specs (the Snapdragon 615 has 64-bit capabilities, integrating into Android L should provide improved performance and better power efficiency.
Like earlier Desire versions, the Desire 820 comes in colorful designs, specifically utilizing a double-shot unibody that features two tones. As of its release, HTC has stated that the colors available will be: Marble White, Tuxedo Grey, Santorini White, Milky Way Grey, Tangerine White, Saffron Grey, Flamingo Grey, Blue Mist, and Monarch Orange.
