BlackBerry recently unveiled an online offer (limited time only) targeted to users who are willing to trade their iPhone devices for the new BlackBerry Passport smartphone. The offer is set to take effect on Monday, December 1st of this year.
In this special offer, owners of iPhone devices can get up to $400 USD or CAD in credit if they swap their Apple phones for a new BlackBerry Passport. As part of the deal, BlackBerry will also provide a guaranteed $150 USD or $200 CAD on top of the trade-in value.
So which iPhone devices are eligible? BlackBerry will accept the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, and iPhone 6. The specific trade-in values, however, will vary depending on the model and the current condition of the iPhone being swapped.
If we have to give a ballpark figure, you can expect a trade-in value of $90 at the most if you trade your iPhone 4S. If you own an iPhone 6, you can probably take home a nice $400 tops.
Credit will be granted in the form of a Visa prepaid card. To qualify for this limited time offer, customers must be based in the United States and Canada, and must swap their phones between December 1st of this year until February 13th of next year.
Also, it should be noted that the iPhone device that is traded must be fully functional and in good working order. This means that they should be able to make and take calls and they should have any cracked display screens nor liquid damage. Lastly, the iPhone device needs to be network unlocked and possess a valid ESN, IMEI, or MEID number.
The trade-in values are not that mind-blowing, but the additional $150 or $200 should be enticing for some. But is the BlackBerry Passport smartphone worth trading your old iPhone device for?
If anything else, the BlackBerry Passport's appeal may lie in its unique and unconventional form. No other mobile device out there shares the Passport's square-shaped design. This makes the handset's display screen a lot wider compared to other devices in the market. If you are an executive, manager, or business owner, you might find the Passport's generously-sized display screen handy, especially when you are crunching numbers on a spreadsheet, drafting a memo on a document, or composing/sending email messages.
Specs-wise, the BlackBerry Passport sports a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a big 3,450 mAh battery, 32 gigabytes of internal storage, 3 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), a 13-megapixel camera, and runs on BlackBerry 10.3.
