Satellite connectivity seems to be the craze right now, with T-Mobile and Starlink successfully sending the first wireless emergency alert (WEA) in the country via satellite. In addition to this, AT&T revealed that AST SpaceMobile has successfully launched its first five commercial satellites called BlueBirds.
The launch took place on Thursday, September 12 at 4:52 am EDT from Cape Canaveral, Florida. It was witnessed by partners and retail shareholders from various parts of the world.
The BlueBirds were deployed to reach standard smartphones directly at cellular broadband speeds for voice, data and video and other non-communications government applications. After launch, these satellites will offer non-continuous cellular broadband service in the US and in select global markets.
